2002 Chevrolet Venture Brake Booster Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the vacuum brake booster on 2002 Chevrolet Venture?
A: To swap the vacuum Brake Booster start by relieving fuel line pressure and draining the cooling system before taking off the Coolant Reservoir and cruise control components. To prepare for the booster replacement start by removing the left front cross brace plus taking out both the pcm cover from the air cleaner housing and unaffected pcm unit. Detach the air cleaner equipment and duct plus disconnect all fuel lines from their pipes and vapor compartment. Move the heater hose away from its crossover position to do the work. Access the Brake Line area better by taking off the fuel lines from the shock tower position. Disconnect the sensor switch from the master cylinder and then unscrew both brake lines plus the master cylinder from where they attach to the brake system. Take out the abs module bracket from its place by first unclipping its wire harness then disconnecting the electrical connector from the abs module. Next separate the braking components from their assembly with the abs module bracket. Move the vacuum hose out of the vacuum check valve position and shift it to a new location before taking away the knee bolster. Unbolt the Brake Booster push pin holder and its attached washer to remove them from the Brake Pedal assembly. Next, detach the Brake Booster push rod. Turn your engine forward to reach and uninstall the Brake Booster when you first take off its mounting nuts plus the engine's front parts. Position the Brake Booster between its mounts on the cowl and mounting plate before tightening mounting nuts to 25 n.m (18 lb ft). Connect the master cylinder and add the Brake Booster push rod to the Brake Pedal. Fasten both components with the retainer and washer. Move the stop lamp switch to position before setting the knee bolster and engine into place. Reattach the vacuum hose to its check valve location and put in the abs module bracket and abs module pieces. Connect both the brake lines and electrical connector to the abs module before attaching the harness to its bracket. Plug the brake lines into the Brake Master Cylinder before tying together the fluid level sensor switch. Install the fuel lines then the heater crossover pipe. Keep going by attaching the air cleaner and duct assembly. Next add the pcm unit and its securement cover. Reinstall the coolant tank while filling and bleeding all parts of the cooling system then bleeding the brake system.
