2002 GMC Safari Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the A/C Accumulator (C60) on 2002 GMC Safari?
A: Start the filter replacement process of A/C Accumulator (C60) by recovering all refrigerant from the system. The initial step entails removing the air cleaner and upper radiator shroud and the grille installation from the path. Detach the evaporator tube from the car while keeping ruts and ferrules in place on the tube. Disassemble the accumulator retaining nuts from the A/C Accumulator then extract the accumulator from the evaporator tube. Secure the new A/C Accumulator onto the evaporator tube with the flow arrow oriented toward the evaporator by installing fresh o-rings onto the evaporator tube. Fasten the accumulator properly with nuts that need to be tightened to 15 n.m (11 lb ft). The evaporator tube installation should be followed by the a/c system recharge and testing the repaired components' fittings with the halogen leak detector (J 39400-A). Reinstallation of grille and upper radiator shroud completes the process along with reinstallation of air cleaner.
