2002 GMC Safari Evaporator Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the evaporator core on 2002 GMC Safari?
A: Start by preparing the required tools which must include the j 39400-a as your first step before commencing work. The air cleaner should be removed followed by refrigerant recovery from the system. At the next step disconnect both electrical connectors and take away the coolant recovery reservoir. Proceed to remove the compressor hose assembly from the accumulator before taking out the bypass valve bracket from the outer case. Disconnect the Evaporator tube from both the accumulator and relay bracket followed by its complete removal from the Evaporator. Unscrew the screws installed in the outer Evaporator case to detach this outer component from its module position. To split the Evaporator module evenly separate all screws before extracting first the inner case and second the Evaporator core. Begin the installation of new Evaporator core by properly placing it into position but always refer to fastener specifications. The inner case should be reattached to the Evaporator module with screws tightened to 6 n.m (53 lb in). Afterward install the outer case and tighten its screws to the same specification. Firstly insert the Evaporator tube to the Evaporator while the second step includes attaching the bypass valve bracket to the outer case. Place the Evaporator inside the accumulator before installing both the compressor hose assembly at the accumulator location and the relay bracket. Install electrical connectors before you put in the coolant recovery reservoir then refill engine coolant then proceed with evacuating the system before charging it before removing the air cleaner.
