2003 Buick LeSabre Exhaust Manifold Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the right exhaust manifold (W/NC8) on 2003 Buick LeSabre?
A: Replacement of the right Exhaust Manifold (w/NC8) begins with removing the fuel injector sight shield and disconnecting the heated Oxygen Sensor at its sensor pigtail before taking out the right side spark plugs. After disconnecting both the connector and hose from the secondary air valve you should remove two bolts securing the secondary air tube to the Exhaust Manifold and also take out the tube with its replacement gasket while discarding the gasket for new use. Tear the bolt holding the secondary air valve to the fuel injector sight shield bracket then extract the secondary air valve from its location. The power brake booster heat shield securing nuts should be removed from the exhaust crossover while the heat shield detaches after that. Remove the vehicle lifters and detach the exhaust crossover's two bolts that connect to the right Exhaust Manifold before taking out the transaxle filler tube and supporting the elevated vehicle. If replacement of heated Oxygen Sensor and Exhaust Manifold pipe and right Exhaust Manifold studs is needed you should take these components off. Begin installation by removing first the bracket retaining nuts of the fuel injector sight shield and after that removing the bracket which is then followed by the right engine lift bracket and its fasteners. You need to first remove the bolt connecting the egr inlet pipe to the right Exhaust Manifold before taking away the retaining fasteners that join the right Exhaust Manifold to the cylinder head. Afterward you must remove the right Exhaust Manifold together with its gasket and ensure you do not reuse either. Clear the exhaust crossover seal from the exhaust crossover pipe before conducting examination and discarding this item. Clean and inspect the right Exhaust Manifold at the same time. When installing the new components mount an exhaust crossover seal over the exhaust crossover followed by an Exhaust Manifold gasket positioned over the cylinder head studs. Secure the right Exhaust Manifold in position while it surrounds the exhaust crossover and reaches the right cylinder head before fastening its components and tightening them to 30 nm (22 ft. Lbs.). The egr inlet pipe bolt must be secured to the right Exhaust Manifold with 30 nm of torque (22 ft. Lbs.). Secure the right engine lift bracket through tightening its fasteners to 30 nm (22 ft. Lbs.). The installation of the fuel injector sight shield bracket includes attaching its retaining nuts then tightening them to 30 nm (22 ft. Lbs.). First install the right Exhaust Manifold studs with 9 nm (80 inch lbs.), then connect the heated Oxygen Sensor and Exhaust Manifold pipe. After lowering the car put in the transaxle filler tube into position. Start by fastening the exhaust crossover to the right Exhaust Manifold with bolts at 20 nm (15 ft. Lbs.), after which you should install and tighten the power brake booster heat shield with its securing nuts to 20 nm (15 ft. Lbs.). Fix the secondary air valve into position against the fuel injector sight shield bracket then fix it with a bolt which must be tightened to 25 nm (18 ft. Lbs.). You must affix another gasket to the secondary air tube before attaching two bolts into the Exhaust Manifold where you will tighten them to 10 nm (89 in lbs.). Next, join both hose and connector to the secondary air valve and place right side spark plugs before reattaching the heated Oxygen Sensor at its sensor pigtail followed by installation of the fuel injector sight shield.
