2004 Buick LeSabre Exhaust Manifold Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the right exhaust manifold (W/O NC8) on 2004 Buick LeSabre?
A: The right Exhaust Manifold replacement starts by uninstalling the fuel injector sight shield followed by heated Oxygen Sensor disconnection at the sensor pigtail then right side spark plugs must be separated. You should begin by removing two nuts which maintain the power brake booster heat shield to the exhaust crossover before removing the heat shield itself. The exhaust crossover attaches to the right Exhaust Manifold through two bolts before you disconnect the transaxle filler tube. After elevation and support of the vehicle begin by extracting the Exhaust Manifold pipe together with the heated Oxygen Sensor for any replacement work. The installation begins by taking off the fuel injector sight shield bracket retaining nuts and bracket and then working on removing the right engine lift bracket retaining fasteners together with its bracket. Use a wrench to remove the bolt attaching the egr inlet pipe to the right Exhaust Manifold before removing both parts including a refusal to reuse the gasket. Remove the exhaust crossover seal from the exhaust crossover which will not return to service for reinstallation purposes and clean the right Exhaust Manifold while performing an inspection of its condition. You must install a new exhaust crossover seal onto the exhaust crossover before placing a new Exhaust Manifold gasket onto the cylinder head studs. Install the right Exhaust Manifold around the exhaust crossover toward the right cylinder head and fasten it with 30 nm (22 ft. Lbs.) torque. The egr inlet pipe bolt requires installation on the right Exhaust Manifold while ensuring a torque of 30 nm (22 ft. Lbs.). Set the right engine lift bracket onto engine position then install its fasteners while tightening them to 30 nm (22 ft. Lbs.). Hide the fuel injector sight shield bracket on the engine before tightening its retaining nuts to 30 nm (22 ft. Lbs.). Place the heated Oxygen Sensor together with the Exhaust Manifold pipe before lowering the vehicle. Reinstall the transaxle filler tube followed by installing bolts on the exhaust crossover to the right Exhaust Manifold and tighten them to 20 nm (15 ft. Lbs.). To complete the repairs install first the power brake booster heat shield to the exhaust crossover then tighten the two nuts to 20 nm and reinstall right side spark plugs and connect heated Oxygen Sensor at the sensor pigtail before installing the fuel injector sight shield.
