A: The replacement process for right Exhaust Manifold on l36 engine begins by checking exhaust system temperature then putting on protective goggles and wearing gloves. Start by removing the fuel injector sight shield followed by disconnecting the heated Oxygen Sensor at its pigtail and then taking off the right side spark plugs. The power brake booster heat shield needs its crossover exhaust-mounted two nuts removed before the heat shield can be extracted. The exhaust crossover needs its two connecting bolts detached from the right Exhaust Manifold together with the removal of the transaxle filler tube. Raise the vehicle and secure it before you take out the Exhaust Manifold pipe with any required heated Oxygen Sensor removal. The next step requires removing the fuel injector sight shield bracket retaining nuts and bracket before dealing with the right engine lift bracket retaining fasteners and that bracket. Unscrew the bolt which maintains egr inlet pipe connection to the right Exhaust Manifold after which remove the right Exhaust Manifold together with gasket while discarding the gasket and remove the exhaust crossover seal. Thoroughly clean the right Exhaust Manifold prior to using it for installation. An exhaust crossover seal (NEW) should be added over the exhaust crossover followed by installing a new Exhaust Manifold gasket over the cylinder head studs. Safely place the right Exhaust Manifold above the exhaust crossover tube while extending it towards the right cylinder head and authenticate the use of proper hardware before tightening the Exhaust Manifold fasteners to 30 nm torque value (22 lb ft). Secure the egr inlet pipe bolt with 30 nm (22 lb ft) torque values. The right engine lift bracket requires connection along with its fasteners being tightened at 30 nm (22 lb ft). The fuel injector sight shield bracket needs proper positioning followed by tightening the retaining nuts at 30 nm (22 lb ft). The technician should install the heated Oxygen Sensor and Exhaust Manifold pipe then lower the vehicle. Replace the transaxle filler tube before torquing bolts that hold the exhaust crossover to the right Exhaust Manifold at 20 nm (15 lb ft). As the last step install the power brake booster heat shield followed by nuts that should be tighten to 20 nm (15 lb ft), then place the right side spark plugs and reconnect the heated Oxygen Sensor before reinstalling the fuel injector sight shield.
