2003 Buick LeSabre Fuel Pressure Regulator Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the fuel pressure regulator on 2003 Buick LeSabre?
A: The first step for servicing or repairing a fuel pressure regulator requires fuel pressure relief before proceeding. Remove the retaining ring dirt from the fuel pressure regulator while you disconnect the vacuum hose from its position on the pressure regulator. Start by extracting the snap ring followed by using a shop towel to restrain spilled fuel during the removal of the fuel pressure regulator from the housing through a twisting motion. Begin by removing the small regulator O-ring along with the filter screen, large regulator O-ring and final regulator O-ring in order. Place a covering over the fuel pressure regulator housing to stop contamination from happening. Using compressed air to test or clean the fuel pressure regulator during installation will result in damage to the unit. Gasoline should be used to clean the fuel pressure regulator filter screen but the fuel pressure regulator must not be put in solvent baths. Install new O-rings on the fuel pressure regulator then lightly apply oil from the engine to lubricate them when you do not plan to install an updated regulator. Install the fuel pressure regulator through the use of the regulator back up O-ring followed by the regulator O-ring large and regulator filter screen and lastly with the regulator O-ring small . Attach the fuel pressure regulator to the fuel pressure regulator housing by inserting it along with the snap ring for securing. After reconnecting the vacuum hose to the fuel pressure regulator you must check for fuel leaks by switching ON the ignition for 10 seconds followed by switching OFF and then ON again for leak inspection. Install the fuel injector sight shield as the last step.
