Fuel Pressure Regulator

A technician faces two steps to replace the fuel pressure regulator for vehicle VIN K by first reducing fuel pressure while cleaning the retaining ring. First remove the vacuum hose connected to the pressure regulator before you detach the retaining snap ring. The fuel pressure regulator requires lifting and twisting movements with a shop towel underneath to disconnect it from the fuel pressure regulator housing . The subsequent steps involve taking out the regulator O-ring small along with the regulator filter screen and regulator O-ring large and regulator O-ring back up. Seal the fuel pressure regulator housing since it must stay protected from contamination. The technician should install new O-rings onto fuel pressure regulator components when a new regulator is not used. These parts should receive a light dose of clean engine oil before installation. The installation of the fuel pressure regulator requires you to place the regulator back up O-ring followed by regulator O-ring large after that apply the regulator filter screen and finalize with regulator O-ring small before returning the fuel pressure regulator into the fuel pressure regulator housing . Lock the installation by using the snap ring then restore the vacuum hose connection to the fuel pressure regulator. Proofing fuel leaks requires you to turn ON the ignition for 10 seconds followed by turning it OFF before repeating in 10 seconds to examine leaks. Place the fuel injector sight shield during conclusion of the installation process.

The first step to service or repair the fuel pressure regulator is to remove fuel pressure and then wipe off the retaining ring from dirt contamination. Detach first the pressure regulator vacuum hose followed by removing its snap ring. The fuel pressure regulator should be detached from its housing by lifting it while twisting it using a shop towel to catch any leaking fuel. The service sequence requires removal of the regulator O-ring small, regulator filter screen and both regulator O-ring large and regulator O-ring back up. Apply a cover to the fuel pressure regulator housing to stop outside materials from contaminating it. The technician must install fresh O-rings to the fuel pressure regulator if they do not use a new regulator. After this, a small amount of clean engine oil should be used to lubricate these O-rings. Fit the fuel pressure regulator with these items in this order: regulator back up O-ring, regulator O-ring large, regulator filter screen, and regulator O-ring small. The fuel pressure regulator requires housing inside it while using the snap ring to secure it in place. Use a tachometer to inspect for fuel leaks after connecting the vacuum hose to the fuel pressure regulator while starting the ignition for 10 seconds then turning it off to inspect the fittings for gas leakage before repeating. The last installation task involves fitting the fuel injector sight shield.

A clean environment must be maintained whenever you service any fuel system components during replacement of the Fuel Pressure Regulator. First, relieve the fuel pressure. The retention ring of the pressure regulator needs to be cleaned from all dirt before removing the vacuum line running to it. You should unlatch the snap ring followed by carefully lifting the Fuel Pressure Regulator using shop towel protection while twisting it free from the Fuel Pressure Regulator housing. The service professional should remove the small regulator o-ring and regulator o-rings (4,5) while using a cover on the Fuel Pressure Regulator housing to stop contaminants from entering. The installer must lubricate new o-rings for the Fuel Pressure Regulator with clean engine oil before installing them onto the regulator. Position the Fuel Pressure Regulator into the Fuel Pressure Regulator housing with the installed regulator o-rings(4,5) and small regulator o-ring. Secure the assembly with the snap ring. You should reconnect the vacuum line to the Fuel Pressure Regulator while tightening the fuel fill cap before reconnecting the negative Battery Cable. A leak inspection takes place through a two-second ignition on then ten-second ignition off sequence followed by ignition on to check for fuel leaks. The last step involves the installation of the fuel injector sight shield.

Place new O-rings on it, lightly lubricating them with clean engine oil.

Install new O-rings on the fuel pressure regulator and lightly lubricate them with clean engine oil.

Do not use compressed air, as this may cause damage.

Avoid immersing the fuel pressure regulator in a solvent bath.

Install the regulator back up O-ring, regulator O-ring large, regulator filter screen, and regulator O-ring small.

Install new O-rings on the fuel pressure regulator and lightly lubricate them with clean engine oil.

Install the fuel injector sight shield.

Tighten it to 8.5 N.m (75 lb in).

Pull on the regulator to ensure it is engaged in the fuel rail slots.

The small regulator O-ring and the regulator O-rings (4,5).

Attach the fuel return pipe to the fuel pressure regulator.

Clean it with gasoline, but do not immerse the regulator in a solvent bath.

Disconnect the fuel pressure regulator vacuum line.
