• Q: How to replace the lower intake manifold on 2003 Buick LeSabre?

  A: To remove the lower intake, first, remove the upper Intake Manifold, Thermostat Housing, and detach the electrical connection from the ect. Next, unbolt the drive belt tensioner along with the pipe to the egr valve outlet then bolt the lower Intake Manifold bolts to pull the lower Intake Manifold. Clen and inspect the lower Intake Manifold and clean the cylinder block, heads, and the Intake Manifold sealing surface of all oil with an appropriate solvent. Slather a gm approved sealer on the ends of the Intake Manifold seals and clean off adhesive compound that's on the Intake Manifold bolts and bolt holes. Before assembly, apply thread locking compound gm p/n 12345739 (Canada P/N 10953541) on the Intake Manifold bolt threads. Mount the lower Intake Manifold gasket and the lower Intake Manifold. Apply the specialized threadlocker 272 gm p/n 12345493 (Canadian P/N 10953488) to the threads of the bolt and install and tighten the lower Intake Manifold bolts (1-12) sequence to 15 nm (11 ft. Lbs.). Finally, reinstall the egr valve out pipe, drive belt tensioner, reconnect the electrical connector from the ect, install Thermostat Housing and completed by installing upper Intake Manifold.
