2004 Buick LeSabre Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the upper intake manifold on 2004 Buick LeSabre?
A: Beginning the upper Intake Manifold replacement requires initial removal of the fuel injector sight shield followed by manifold vacuum source disconnection and evaporative emission canister purge valve removal while securing hoses to the air inlet grill. Start by unhooking the right Spark Plug Wires from the ignition module and putting them aside. Then remove the MAP Sensor and the engine wiring harness heat shield fasteners to finally remove the heat shield itself. Remove the Fuel Rail mounting bolts subsequently remove the Fuel Rail and injectors before removing the Throttle Body support bracket bolts and finally removing the bracket. After detaching the air cleaner intake duct you need to unscrew the Throttle Body nuts from the upper Intake Manifold before setting the exhaust blade in a safe location for further work. Start by removing the upper Intake Manifold bolts yet keep the Throttle Body Gasket separate from the parts. Examine the upper Intake Manifold while you check the mating surface between it and the lower Intake Manifold. To install the upper Intake Manifold you should apply a new gasket then put the upper Intake Manifold onto the lower Intake Manifold before using a bolt sequence (1-10) to tighten each bolt to 10 nm (89 inch lbs.). Apply the new Throttle Body Gasket onto the upper Intake Manifold before installing the Throttle Body using nuts that require 10 nm (89 inch lbs.) torque. Reattach the air cleaner intake duct alongside the Throttle Body support bracket and its bolts by tightening them to 10 nm (89 inch lbs.). After installing the Fuel Rail assembly begin mounting the engine wiring harness heat shield and secure it with fasteners to 10 nm (89 inch lbs.). Before finalization, install the MAP Sensor while connecting the right Spark Plug Wires to the ignition module after installing the evaporative emission canister purge valve and manifold vacuum source connection followed by a fuel injector sight shield installation.
