2005 Buick LeSabre Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the upper intake manifold on 2005 Buick LeSabre?
A: Begin your upper Intake Manifold replacement by removing the fuel injector sight shield and disconnecting the manifold vacuum source before you remove the evaporative emission canister purge solenoid valve and secure its hoses to the air inlet grill. The process begins by removing the right Spark Plug Wires from their ignition module connection points and putting them aside for later use. Once this step is complete, technicians can remove the MAP Sensor followed by the fasteners that secure the engine wiring harness heat shield before final heat shield removal. First detach the bolts securing the Fuel Rail and simultaneously remove the Fuel Rail along with the injectors before extracting Throttle Body support bracket bolts and the actual bracket. First disconnect the air cleaner intake duct then remove the nuts that secure the Throttle Body to the upper Intake Manifold before placing the Throttle Body aside during removal. The Throttle Body Gasket and upper Intake Manifold bolts need removal before you can remove the upper Intake Manifold. Inspect both the upper Intake Manifold and its mating surface with the lower Intake Manifold before cleaning them. When installing the system avoid applying any sealing material to the gasket. Follow these steps to place the new upper Intake Manifold gasket over the lower Intake Manifold then set the upper Intake Manifold into position on the lower Intake Manifold. Start by installing upper Intake Manifold bolts in order (1-10) and torque them to 10 nm (89 inch lbs.). Secure the Throttle Body Gasket against the upper Intake Manifold before fitting the Throttle Body and torquing nuts to 10 nm (89 inch lbs. Torque). Fit the air cleaner intake duct then replace the Throttle Body support bracket and attach its bolts with torque to 10 nm (89 inch lbs.). Installation follows with the Fuel Rail assembly then the engine wiring harness heat shield followed by securement of their fasteners using 10 nm torque (89 inch lbs.). To complete the repair you must install the MAP Sensor followed by attaching right Spark Plug Wires to the ignition module then add the evaporative emission canister purge solenoid valve and reconnect the manifold vacuum source before completing the repair with the fuel injector sight shield.
