• Q: How to replace the throttle body assembly on 2005 Buick LeSabre?

  A: In order to replace Throttle Body assembly, the first step should be to remove fuel injection sight shield and drain the radiator coolant. Next, remove the air cleaner intake duct and disconnect the idle air control (IAC) valve electrical connector throttle position (TP) sensor electrical connector and mass air flow (MAF) sensor electrical connector. After that remove the cruise control cable from the accelerator control bracket and Throttle Body lever, after that the accelerator control cable. If applicable, remove the electrical harness retainer clip from the accelerator control cable bracket and remove the vacuum hoses from the Throttle Body, paying attention to their location. And then remove the support bracket for Throttle Body and remove the 3 nuts and studs that hold the Throttle Body to the Intake Manifold and remove the Throttle Body assembly. Clean gasket surfaces of throat Intake Manifold, and Throttle Body assembly without the use of any solvent as doing so may damage the surface. In case of Throttle Body replacement, remove the accelerator controls cable bracket from it. For installation attach the accelerator controls bracket to the Throttle Body if necessary and tightened to 16 n.m (12 lb ft). Replace the new gasket, new inserts, and studs if required, then the Throttle Body assembly and subsequently tightening it to 10 n.m (89 lb in). Reattach the Throttle Body support bracket and vacuum hoses, as mentioned while removing it. Reinstall the electrical harness retainer clip back onto the accelerator control cable bracket and reattach the accelerator control cable to accelerator control bracket and to Throttle Body lever making sure the throttle has freedom of movement without binding. Next, join the cruise control cable to the accelerator control bracket , (Throttle Body lever), maf sensor, tp sensor, and the iac valve electrical connectors. Replace the air cleaner intake duct, replenish the radiator coolant and finally replace fuel injection sight shield.
