2003 Buick Rendezvous Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the fuel rail assembly on 2003 Buick Rendezvous?
A: The first step for Fuel Rail assembly replacement includes draining fuel system pressure and removing the upper Intake Manifold. Cut off the engine fuel feed pipe from the Fuel Rail and reduce the fuel return pipe from the Fuel Pressure Regulator before removing the fuel feed pipe and fuel return pipe o-rings. After disconnecting the main electrical connector of the Fuel Injector harness workers must depress the lock tab then lift the injector connector from its position and repeat this process for every Fuel Injector electrical connector. Disassemble the process by first disconnecting the wiring harness of the fuel injectors together with the electrical connector of the coolant temperature sensor followed by removing the Fuel Rail bolts that lead to the removal of the Fuel Rail assembly including fuel injectors. Take out the o-ring seals of the injector from the spray tip area of each Fuel Injector. Additionally, if you replace the Fuel Rail, remove all injectors from it. The installation of the Fuel Rail requires proper o-ring placement where the black o-ring should face upward and the brown o-ring should face downward. Install the fuel injectors to the new Fuel Rail and use gm p/n 12345616 (Canadian P/N 993182) or equivalent as the o-ring solution. Safely place the Fuel Rail with attached fuel injectors onto the lower Intake Manifold while verifying the nozzle ends enter their correct locations in the bores and then complete fixation by pressing on the rail until everything sits fully in place while skipping the valve for the Fuel Pressure Regulator. First secure the Fuel Rail bolts at 10 n.m (89 lb in) before attaching the coolant temperature sensor electric connector and the injector electric harness and connecting the Fuel Injector electrical links by pushing the lock slides. Before installation of new o-rings to the fuel feed pipe and fuel return pipe professionals will connect the Fuel Injector harness main electrical connector and securely tighten fuel feed pipe nut to 17 n.m (13 lb ft). You should connect the fuel return pipe to the Fuel Pressure Regulator while tightening its nut to 17 n.m (13 lb ft). Afterward install the upper Intake Manifold. A fuel leak inspection can be conducted by starting the ignition for two seconds before waiting ten seconds of off time before observing for any leaks.
