2002 Buick Rendezvous Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the fuel rail assembly on 2002 Buick Rendezvous?
A: You must note the eight-digit identification number on the left-hand Fuel Rail because this assembly services even cylinders numbers 2 4 and 6. The correct Fuel Injector o-rings placement requires the black ring above the brown ring because both rings have different materials although they have identical sizes. A proper way to stop contamination from entering the fuel passages during servicing is to seal the fittings with caps and insert plugs in the holes. The first step requires fuel pressure relief before beginning upper Intake Manifold removal. The service requires engine fuel feed pipe removal from the Fuel Rail and engine fuel return pipe disconnection from the Fuel Pressure Regulator. Both o-rings must be discarded. Prerequisite service starts with removing the main injector harness electrical connector followed by Fuel Injector electrical connectors using lock release pull and lock tab depress. The injector electrical harness will be detached from the Fuel Rail followed by disconnecting the Coolant Temperature Sensor electrical connector. The first operation requires removal of all Fuel Rail retaining bolts and then the removal of the Fuel Rail assembly before extracting the injector o-ring seals from the spray tip ends of every injector. Install the Fuel Rail only after plugging inlet and outlet ports to stop contamination and eliminate compressed air usage or solvent bath immersion of the Fuel Rail assembly. Place the Fuel Rail assembly within the Intake Manifold by tilting it until the injectors align correctly before fastening it with attaching bolts at 10 n.m (89 lb in). Relocate the Coolant Temperature Sensor electrical connection while installing the injector electrical harness to the Fuel Rail followed by connecting the injector connectors with proper slide locking. Connect the main injector harness electrical connector while you replace the fuel feed and return pipes o-rings after properly connecting the fuel feed pipe to the Fuel Rail by tightening its nut to 17 n.m (13lb ft). The fuel return pipe should be attached next to the Fuel Pressure Regulator before securing the nut to 17 n.m (13 lb ft). Supply power to the upper Intake Manifold and install the negative Battery Cable. End the procedure by turning on the ignition for two seconds and than off for ten seconds before a second ignition turn-on for leak inspection.
