  A: The replacement process for crankshaft balancer begins with eliminating the Drive Belt then elevating and securing the vehicle. Begin by taking off the wheel along with the tire on the right front position followed by removal of the right engine splash shield. Hanging a utility stand from beneath the frame right side rail supports the frame/powertrain structure before removing the two bolt attachments at that rail. The utility stand should be used to drop the frame until you reach the crankshaft balancer. The inertial weight section of the crankshaft balancer requires assembly to the hub with rubber material yet strict installation steps must be followed so the tuning of the balancer remains undamaged. Use the crankshaft balancer puller (J 24420-C) to extract the crankshaft balancer through removal of the discardable crankshaft balancer bolt. The crankshaft balancer must be cleaned and inspected before receiving sealer gm p/n 12345739 or an equivalent that will be applied to its keyway. Use the j 29113 crankshaft balancer installer to position the crankshaft balancer before adding a new bolt along with the washer and tightening it to 70 nm (52 ft. Lbs.) and applying another 72 degrees of torque by using a torque angle meter. Utilize the utility stand to lift the frame/powertrain before installing the frame right side bolts along with the engine splash shield and right front tire and wheel and lower the vehicle to complete with the Drive Belt installation.
