2003 Cadillac CTS Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the engine oil and oil filter on 2003 Cadillac CTS?
A: A vehicle requires lifting and proper support before starting the replacement process for engine oil and Oil Filter. Place the oil drain pan beneath the Oil Pan Drain Plug before you take out the plug to allow the engine oil to empty. Check and clean the Oil Pan Drain Plug for replacement before conducting a similar operation to the sealing surface on the Oil Pan where necessary for Oil Pan repair or replacement. The engine oil requires enough drainage time after removing the Drain Plug from the filtering cartridge housing before extracting the plug so the oil empties into the pan. To continue, remove the plastic cap from the cartridge housing and extract the cartridge filter out of the cap. The cleaning process assesses both the Oil Filter cartridge plastic cap and the Oil Filter cap o-ring seal while the needed components receive replacement. The next step requires us to install the Oil Filter cartridge housing Drain Plug while tightening it to 10 nm (89 inch lbs.) until the tabs on the Oil Filter cartridge create a secure fit with the plastic cap by making an audible snap sound. Set the new Oil Filter cartridge into the plastic cap after coating the o-ring seal with clean engine oil and secure the plastic cap to the housing by tightening it to 25 nm (18 ft. Lbs.). Wipe the oil Drain Plug region with a dry, clean cloth before attaching the plug and tightening it to 10 nm (89 inch lbs.). Place the vehicle in lower position before adding the correct oil type at recommended levels to the engine. Check the oil pressure gauge while the engine runs and look for proper pressure increase before inspecting both the Oil Filter cartridge housing and the Oil Pan Drain Plug for fluid leakage. Before proceeding shut down the engine then verify and adjust the engine oil level when needed.
