How to replace the front crankshaft seal on 2003 Cadillac CTS?

The crankshaft drive gear should be uninstalled before performing the crankshaft front oil seal replacement. Make a pilot hole through the steel ring of the crankshaft front oil seal using an impact drill then install a self-tapping screw which can be removed by pliers to replace the seal. Clean the surface area where the seal will install. Complete installation of the crankshaft front oil seal requires the use of the camshaft/front main seal installer (J 35268-A) to tap it into position and then reattach the crankshaft drive gear.
