2003 Cadillac CTS Oil Pan Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the oil pan on 2003 Cadillac CTS?
A: Draining engine oil is the first step when replacing an oil pan followed by removing the front frame and securing bolt from the transmission fluid cooler pipes brace to the engine. Utilize the following process to remove the oil pan: loosen first the three lower transmission mounting bolts then the oil pan bolts before prying the oil pan away from the engine block. Clean the mating surface between the cylinder block and inspect the condition of the oil pan. Start by applying silicone sealing compound (GM P/N 12346286 or Canadian P/N 10953472) on the oil pan mating surface then set the oil pan onto the engine block. Install the oil pan with its full length placed at the rear position before you tighten all bolts in a sequence to 15 Nm (11 ft lbs.). Secure the transmission fluid cooler pipes brace bolt with 25 Nm torque (18 ft. lbs.) then move on to installing and tightening the 3 lower transmission mounts with 50 Nm torque (37 ft. lbs.). The process ends by returning the front frame while you add engine oil before inspecting for any leaking substances.
