How to replace the rear Trunk Lid Lift Support on 2003 Cadillac CTS?

Before working on this task start the process by lifting and supporting the rear compartment lid to protect it from harm. A small flat blade tool will help you take off the retaining clip on both lower and upper assist rod ball studs. Take out the rear compartment assist rod from your vehicle. Star the new assist rod into its upper ball stud then its lower ball stud on the rear compartment. Push the rear compartment assist rod all the way into its position before you seal the hatch area.
