Starting to replace the shift lever in the a/t shifter requires a system disable for the sir. The first step requires removal of steering column trim covers followed by disconnecting the electrical connector from the traction control harness and guiding the harness outside the column with a record of its path for later reconstruction. First detach the shift lever from the linear shift assembly after pulling it upward then remove the shift lever retaining screw. You can attach the shift lever downward before inserting it into the linear shift assembly and follow up with the shift lever retaining screw at 20 nm tightening torque (15 ft. Lbs.). Reposition the traction control harness inside the column by repeating its specified route then replace steering column trim panels when sir can be reactivated.
