Start the shifter service by first removing the anti-theft plate together with its tamper proof fastener from the shift position using the tamper proof tool J43146 only if the vehicle has T1A RPO Code. The procedure requires separation of the shift cable terminal from its position joined to the shifter pin followed by removal of the shift cable bolt and cable from the shifter assembly. The BTSI wire harness connector should be disconnected from the BTSI solenoid before pulling the park lock cable out of its shifter slot. First disconnect the park lock cable from the park lock cam then remove the shifter fasteners followed by separating the shifter backlight wire harness connector. Open the console side panels to remove the shifter assembly through its width. The installation requires you to re-open the console side panels followed by shifter assembly placement before you secure the specified-torque shifter fasteners. After the shifter backlight wire harness connector connection the park lock cable should be placed into the park lock cam while ensuring the cable locking tab stays securely locked. Fasten the BTSI solenoid wire harness connector and amount the shift cable terminal onto the shifter pin and secure the shift cable to the shifter by tightening its fastener to 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.). To adjust the shift cable engage neutral position then loosen the shifter adjuster nut before securing it at 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.). The anti-theft plate along with tamper proof fastener needs to be installed with J43146 tamper proof bit when RPO Code (T1A) is present. Put on the left side console trim plate last along with the console trim plate.

One must start by taking off the throttle body air inlet duct before working on replacing the Automatic Transmission Shift Levers. The shift levers need detachment from the automatic transaxle range selector before removing the shift lever nut and the lever itself. The installation process starts with securing the lever of automatic transaxle range selector into place. The automatic transaxle shift lever nut needs a torque of 32 nm (23 ft. Lbs.) before reattaching the automatic transaxle range selector lever cable to the lever. Install the throttle body air inlet duct as the last step.

Disconnect the shift lever connector.

Remove the shift lever screw from the shift lever assembly.

Place the shifter into the N (neutral) position, loosen the shifter adjuster nut, and then tighten it to 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.).

Disable the SIR system.

Take out the shift lever and seal from the linear shift assembly.

Carefully feed the traction control harness back through the column, following the previously noted routing.

Insert the shift cable onto the shifter control and connect the automatic transmission shift lock solenoid wire harness connector.

Carefully take out the shift lever and seal from the column, ensuring the shift lever seal is removed by sliding it towards the narrow section of the shift lever.
