- Q: How to replace the upper fan shroud (W/M74) with Auto 5-Speed Overdrive on 2003 Cadillac Escalade?A: Starting the upper Fan Shroud (W/M74) replacement requires workers to first untighten the air cleaner outlet duct clamps from Throttle Body to mass airflow sensor before removing the air cleaner outlet duct. The procedure demands removal of the Fan Shroud a/c line retainer followed by the engine harness clip from the pcm cover before unscrewing and removing the tcm cover from the Fan Shroud. Unscrew the tcm electrical connector bolts while disconnecting its connectors before pulling out the tcm through the cover and the Fan Shroud retainers together with their bolts. Set the upper Fan Shroud in its place before tightening the Fan Shroud bolts to 9 nm (80 inch lbs.). You should begin by attaching the Fan Shroud retainers then connecting the tcm electrical connectors before reinstalling the tcm with its cover while tightening both tcm electrical connector bolts to 8 nm (71 inch lbs.). First install the tcm cover onto the Fan Shroud before tightening its bolts to 9 nm (80 inch lbs.) and afterwards hook up the engine harness clip to the pcm cover and the a/c line retainer on the Fan Shroud. You need to reinstall the air cleaner outlet duct while tightening the clamp at the Throttle Body to 7 nm (62 inch lbs.) and the clamp at the mass airflow sensor to this very same torque specification.
