2003 Chevrolet Cavalier Brake Disc Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to Replace the Brake Disc on 2003 Chevrolet Cavalier?
A: You need to lift and sustain the vehicle before taking off the tire and wheel components to replace the Brake Disc. Put the c-clamp (J 41013) between the piston and caliper to make piston movement possible before removing the clamp. Secure the brake caliper with strong mechanical wire to protect the hydraulic hose from harm. Detach the brake caliper unit with its brake pads from the Steering Knuckle without subjecting the hose to pressure. Allign the Brake Disc to wheel stud matching marks then take out the Brake Disc. Prevent problems by cleaning the hub/axle flange with j 42450-a wheel hub resurfacing kit and cleaning the Brake Disc using j 41013 rotor resurfacing kit. Check mating areas until you find clean surfaces before placing the Brake Disc on top of the hub/axle flange by following the matchmark. Use acceptable tools to check lro of the Brake Disc assembly and fix it if measurements breach allowed limits. Install the caliper back to its Steering Knuckle position and place the tire and wheel assembly onto the vehicle. Lower the car slowly. After installing a new Brake Disc the pads need to be lightly scraped and both parts rubbed together.
