Begin replacement of the Brake Backing Plate by raising and supporting the vehicle and removing the tire assembly and Brake Drum followed by the brake shoes. The universal spring along with Wheel Cylinder must be removed before disconnecting the Parking Brake Cable from the backing plate. Begin by removing the hub and bearing assembly along with the backing plate from the assembly. Begin with backing plate installation followed by hub and bearing assembly installation. Install the Wheel Cylinder, universal spring and brake shoes after reattaching the Parking Brake Cable to the backing plate. Before final tire and wheel installation adjust the rear brake assembly while also installing the Brake Drum and bleeding the brake system for adjustment of the park brake system.
