2003 Chevrolet Corvette Brake Line Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the front brake line on 2003 Chevrolet Corvette?
A: To replace the front brake hose requires lifting and holding the vehicle followed by taking off the wheel and tire components. Put rubber caps over the brake pipe fitting or seal the hose tip with a rubber cap to keep fluid from leaking out and becoming dirty. Roll back the hose fitting using a back up wrench to detach the brake pipe fitting from the brake hose before placing caps or plugs into the brake pipe fitting end without distorting the brake pipe or bracket. Take off the brake hose retainer from its bracket before pulling out the hose from the bracket system. Take out the brake hose and brake caliper inlet bolt. Keep the two stuck copper brake hose gaskets and dispose them. Install new copper brake hose gaskets and thread them onto the brake caliper inlet fitting bolt before attaching this assembly to the caliper. Use 50 nm force to secure the bolt. Position the brake hose onto the hose bracket without bends or turns before fixing the retainer onto its fitting. Insert the brake hose fitting end into the brake pipe fitting and tighten it to 18 nm torque using a back up wrench after removing any rubber caps from the pipe. Put the tire and wheel back on and perform a regular vehicle daily brake maintenance.
