2002 Chevrolet Corvette Brake Line Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the rear brake line on 2002 Chevrolet Corvette?
A: In order to replace the rear brake hose, first, lift and support the vehicle and remove the rear tire and wheel assembly. Clean any dirt from the brake hose and brake pipe fitting and plug up the exposed brake pipe fitting end with a rubber cap or plug to avoid fluid loss and contamination. Remove the brake hose from the brake caliper with a back up wrench applied to the hose fitting by taking the brake pipe fitting off the brake hose while leaving the brake pipe pipe not bent or bracket. The brake hose retainer should be removed from the hose bracket and then the brake hose from the bracket should be pulled out. Next, remove the brake snout bolt in the brake caliper and let the brake hose slide out of the brake caliper. Discard the two copper brake hose gaskets if they are stuck to the breaker end or the caliper. For installation, use new copper brake hose gaskets and assemble them with brake caliper inlet fitting bolt to brake hose and attach the assembly to the brake caliper which ought to be tightened to 50 nm (37.ft. Lbs.). Clamp the brake hose onto the hose bracket such that it is not kinked or twisted, then attach the retainer onto the brake hose fitting onto bracket. Remove the rubber cap or plug from the brake pipe fitting end, attach the brake pipes to the brake hose using the back up wrench and tighten it up to 18nm (13ft. Lbs.). Finally, remount the tire and wheel assembly, bleed the hydraulic brake system, and lower the vehicle.
