2003 Chevrolet Malibu Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to Replace the Brake Disc on 2003 Chevrolet Malibu?
A: Start by lifting the vehicle and supporting it before taking off the tire and wheel unit. Press the piston into place using a c-clamp until the caliper fits off the Brake Disc before you take out the clamp. Secure the brake caliper with heavy mechanic wire or its equivalent to stop hurting the hydraulic flexible brake hose. Take out the brake caliper with its bracket from the suspension knuckle while keeping the brake flexible hose undisturbed. Line up the Brake Disc to its original position on the wheel studs and take out the Brake Disc. Before assembling the parts use the wheel hub resurfacing kit (J 42450-A) and the rotor resurfacing kit (J 41013) to remove all rust and contaminants from hub/axle flange and Brake Disc surfaces. Look for debris in both surfaces before mounting the Brake Disc onto its hub/axle position based on the matchmarks. Test the fitted lro of the Brake Disc and align it when the actual reading exceeds its recommended limit. Install the Brake Caliper Bracket on the wheel knuckle afterward put back the wheel assembly. Afterward lower the vehicle and refine the brakes when you used new replacement discs.
