How to service the EGR valve on 2003 Chevrolet Malibu?

The EGR Valve maintenance procedure starts with turning off ignition power. First disconnect the EGR Valve electrical connector and then remove the bolt which holds the pipe assembly to the valve before extracting the pipe assembly backwards carefully. Begin by taking out the EGR Valve assembly after you remove its retaining bolts followed by removal of the gasket. The new gasket together with the EGR Valve must be installed onto the Intake Manifold after cleaning the mounting surface. Use a 30 n.m (22 lb ft) torque when tightening the bolts that extends through the EGR Valve. Secure the EGR Valve pipe assembly by attaching it with the bolt that requires a torque setting of 25 n.m (18 lb ft). Rejoin the EGR Valve electrical connector as the last step.
