How to replace the rear Trunk Lid Lift Support on 2003 Chevrolet Monte Carlo?

Start procedures by opening and supporting the rear compartment area first. A small flat tool allows you to lift the retainer on both ends of the rear strut but only press at the late stage when removing the hood rod to safeguard against damage. Pull the strut out from its position at the ball studs on both hinges of the vehicle. Install the new rear compartment strut by placing both top and bottom sections onto the hinge ball studs before fitting them onto their respective ball studs. Press each segment until they fully attach. Press both upper and lower strut retainers closed and move the support aside while finishing the rear compartment.
