2003 Chevrolet Suburban 1500 Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the evaporator core in the auxiliary HVAC module on 2003 Chevrolet Suburban 1500?
A: The procedure to replace an Evaporator core in the auxiliary hvac module should start with the halogen leak detector (J 39400-A) for leak detection tests. Start by removing the auxiliary hvac module from the vehicle then proceed by taking out the air temperature actuator. Locate the stud positioned underneath the rear hvac module between the inlet and outlet pipes on its bottom surface. The technician should carefully peel the Heater Core pipe gasket off from the module case then remove the Heater Core pipe retainer. First remove the screws securing the hvac module lower cover along with the subsequent removal of the auxiliary hvac module lower cover. You should remove the Heater Core clamp before extracting the Heater Core from the auxiliary hvac module. Recovering the gasket between the auxiliary hvac module and air distributor duct will be beneficial for reinstallation. The front case half is separated from the back half by removing the fasteners while the Evaporator core is taken out from the back case half. Check for damage on all gaskets and seals before making replacements when necessary. Start by inserting the Evaporator core into the case before you install its corresponding seal at the installation point. Secure the case halves while placing the air distributor duct gasket with the temperature door in correct position during assembly. After inserting the Heater Core into its position in the auxiliary hvac module you should attach the Heater Core clamp. Attach the auxiliary hvac module lower cover while using screws for the installation. After putting in the Heater Core pipe retainer with its gasket you need to reinstall the stud which links the Heater Core inlet and outlet under the auxiliary hvac module. The vehicle requires the installation of both the air temperature actuator and the auxiliary hvac module as the final step.
