2003 Chevrolet Tracker Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the A/C Expansion Valve on 2003 Chevrolet Tracker?
A: The first step before changing a thermal expansion valve requires a refrigerator system to discharge and recover its refrigerant. The bolt connecting the expansion valve needs removal to free up the plate which allows removal of evaporator inlet and outlet tubes from the expansion valve. You must first remove the two expansion valve bolts before pulling out the valve from the evaporator as you discard the O-rings. Before positioning the expansion valve structure apply mineral base 525 viscosity refrigerant oil onto new O-rings before installing them to the evaporator. Reinstall the expansion valve by tightening its 2 bolts afterward connecting evaporator inlet and outlet tubes before installing the plate clockwise and securing it with 35 N.m (26 lb ft). Evacuate the system afterwards followed by refrigerant recharge until inspecting for leaks while operating the A/C system.
