2003 Chevrolet Tracker Brake Booster Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to Replace a Vacuum Brake Booster on 2003 Chevrolet Tracker?
A: You will need the Brake Booster piston rod height gage (J 39567) and Brake Booster piston rod adjuster (J 37767) to perform this job. You must remove both the brake pressure modulator valve and the master cylinder system from the vehicle at the start. Take off the brake vacuum hose from the Brake Booster and remove the push rod clevis clevis pin before disconnecting the push rod clevis from the brake pedal arm. Locate all booster nuts and unfasten them to extract the booster. To make adjustments push the piston rod multiple times while placing the reaction disc correctly. Keep atmospheric pressure inside the booster and check for the right gap measurement. Insert the j 39567 into the master cylinder space and push its pin until it reaches the master cylinder piston. Set the j 39567 upside-down on the booster assembly until its end touches the booster piston rod which must rest at 0mm from the rod. When the measurement does not fit specs use the j 37767 to support the booster piston rod and improve the clearance by adjusting the screw. Apply wheel bearing lubricant (GM Part 1051344/Canadian Part 993037 or equivalent) to the master cylinder piston before installing the booster to the bulkhead without tightening its bolt on the bulkhead. After connecting the booster push rod clevis to brake pedal lever, install the 4 nuts and secure it with a clevis pin and clip. Set the brake push rod clevis in position when its pin hole space to booster measures 109.5 to 110.5 mm. You should fasten the clevis nut 25 nm (18 ft. Lbs.) and the booster nuts 13 nm (115 inch lbs.). Reconnect the brake vacuum hose to the Brake Booster while using the specified hose clamp then put back the master cylinder and brake pressure modulator valve.
