2003 Chevrolet Tracker Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service the camshaft position sensor on 2003 Chevrolet Tracker?
A: The Camshaft Position Sensor service begins with disconnecting the electrical connector from the camshaft position (CMP) sensor. Mark the housing flange of the cmp sensor and the Cylinder Head before loosening the sensor housing bolt to replace the cmp sensor in the Cylinder Head. The installation process requires the connector to first be disconnected from the cmp sensor housing followed by application of a new o-ring with engine oil lubrication. Use the offset coupling on the cmp sensor to gain access to the camshaft drive slot while avoiding any contact force as you align it properly before putting in the cmp sensor housing to the Cylinder Head. The cmp sensor housing bolt should be installed without final tightening while rotating the housing until the alignment marks achieve proper positioning. Screw the cmp sensor housing bolt to 15 n.m (11 lb ft) while connecting the cmp sensor electrical connector. To complete the procedure install a timing light then verify the ignition timing through its use.
