  • Q: How to Service the Crankshaft Position Sensor on 2003 Chevrolet Tracker?
    A: To service the crankshaft position (CKP) sensor, remove connector from ckp sensor, transmission should be removed from vehicle. Then remove the Flywheel or flex plate from the crankshaft and followed by removal of 2 bolts and the sensor clips or shield.. Take out the bolt which secures the ckp sensor to the engine block and remove the ckp sensor including the wire harness . Check the ckp sensor signal rotor for damage teeth or no teeth through the ckp sensor opening. For installation, check to ensure that the ckp sensor wire harness is not pinched or broken between the engine block and transmission as well as making sure that it is properly situated in the channel in the rear of the engine block. Lubricate the ckp sensor o-ring with clean engine oil, then mates the ckp sensor to the engine block and bolt it down with the bolt, torquing it to 6 n.m (54 lb in). Next, attach the sensor wire harness upon the engine block using the clips or shield with 2 bolts as well as the installation of the crankshaft Flywheel or a flex plate, and transmission, and then reconnect the ckp sensor electrical connector.
