2003 Chevrolet Tracker Muffler Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the muffler on 2003 Chevrolet Tracker?
A: First, raise and support the vehicle to change the Muffler. Unscrew the twc nuts from the Catalytic Converter assembly and disassemble it from the resonator/Muffler/Tail Pipe assembly. Next step is to unscrew the hangers that support the resonator/Muffler/Tail Pipe assembly and swing the assembly out of the car. Clean the gasket and the seal mating areas prior to the installation of the new resonator/Muffler/Tail Pipe assembly. During installation, always work with new gaskets and seals. Mount the resonator/Muffler/Tail Pipe assembly on the vehicle and attach it with hangers. Mount the assembly with a new gasket to the Catalytic Converter assembly and tighten twc nuts, but do not fully tighten them as yet. Before tighting the fasteners to attach the system components to each other, line all the system components up to avoid the creation of noise or vibration and then tighten the Catalytic Converter to resonator/Muffler/tailpipe assembly bolts to 50 nm (37 ft. Lbs.). Finally, lower the vehicle.
