How to replace the negative battery cable on 2003 Chevrolet Trailblazer?

The first step to replace a battery negative cable requires you to disconnect the cable. The harness needs to be unbolted from both the front wheelhouse panel and shock tower. The engine harness needs to be taken off the bracket along with removal of its bolt that connects to the engine block. When installing the engine harness ground terminal to the engine block and the instrument panel harness with the engine harness to the powertrain control module maintain a separation between the negative battery cable and the battery. Use the engine harness bracket to connect the harness then bolt it to the shock tower bracket and torque the bolt to 10 N.m (89 lb in). The harness engine block attachment requires a bolt installation that should be torques to 50 N.m (37 lb ft). The harness wheelhouse panel attachment needs a bolt installation that requires a torque of 10 N.m (89 lb in). Connect the negative battery cable to the battery as the last step.
