• Q: How to replace the air filter element on 2003 GMC Envoy?

  A: The process of air cleaner replacement starts by removing the radiator support diagonal brace only if present and continuing with the radiator air intake baffle only if present. Unscrew the three screws holding the air cleaner cover/resonator into place and pull the cover/resonator away. Extract both the air cleaner and air outlet duct from the lower air cleaner housing/washer solvent tank assembly. Pull the air cleaner from the air outlet duct while twisting it by hand. Check each part of the assembly for debris and damage before you make necessary repairs. To install the air cleaner apply twisting pressure while pushing the cleaner onto the air outlet duct then engage the snap mechanism between the air cleaner and air outlet duct to connect them to the lower air cleaner housing/washer solvent tank assembly. Reinstall the air cleaner cover/resonator assembly before tightening all its retaining screws with 4 N.m (35 lb in) force. Place back the radiator air intake baffle while also reattaching the radiator support diagonal brace whenever it applies.
