A: To remove the Rack and Pinion Boot from the vehicle , you first need to find the outer tie rod using the j22610 keystone clamp pliers (J22610) followed by the Rack And Pinion gear removal. All parts of the boot have to be replaced when the inner tie rod is being replaced. Discard the small seal retaining clamp and large seal retaining clamp from the Rack and Pinion Boot using side cutters and making sure not to cut the end of the boot or screwdriver into the gear assembly to scratch the gear assembly. Pull the Rack and Pinion Boot firmly from gear with using it then discard it. Make sure that the interior of Rack and Pinion Boot ribs are greased for installation and that the new large seal retaining clamp is put over the new Rack and Pinion Boot. Mount boot over the inner side of the Tie Rod End, positioning the arrows marked on boot in accordance with the range shown on the gear housing. Then, install the new small seal retaining clamp over the boot, place the boot toward the center of the gear assembly and seat in the inner tie rod retaining groove, making sure it is not twisted, puckered, or out of shape. Clamp down the large seal retaining clamp of boot with the small seal retaining clamp to the inside of the tie rod assortment using the j22610 keystone clamp pliers (J22610). Last but not least, you can reinstall the Rack And Pinion gear and the outer tie rod.
