2003 GMC Savana 2500 Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the A/C Accumulator in a system on 2003 GMC Savana 2500?
A: Start by collecting refrigerant from the a/c system before you can replace the accumulator. Use the following sequence to replace the accumulator: disconnect the a/c low pressure sensor electrical connector before removing the evaporator outlet hose retaining nut from the accumulator and finally removing the compressor inlet hose retaining nut. Start by first removing the accumulator retaining bracket screw before removing the accumulator with its sealing washers. Before installing an updated accumulator add an exact amount of pag oil per manufacturer instructions. Use a 9 n.m (80 lb in) torque setting when you fasten the screw that secures the accumulator to the retaining bracket. Connect the low pressure sensor electrical connector after you install new sealing washers then install the evaporator outlet hose while torquing the retaining nut to 16 n.m (12 lb ft). Screw the compressor inlet hose into position before securing the retaining nut to 16 n.m (12 lb ft). For the final step evacuate and recharge the a/c system while performing leak detection on components' fittings with the halogen leak detector (J 39400-A).
