  • Q: How to replace the automatic transmission shift cable on 2004 Buick LeSabre?
    A: In order to change the Automatic Transmission Range Selector Cable, you need to set the park brake, and chock the wheels. Lift the retainer both out of the transaxle range selector cable machinery, then remove the transaxle range selector cable terminal from the transaxle manual shift lever pin. Depress the locking tabs and free the transaxle range selector cable from the bracket and take out the left closeout/insulator panel. Next, uninstall the retaining clip from the cable range selector and the cable coming from column control lever and the steering column bracket. Lastly, pull the range selector cable through this hole in the cowl. For installation, install the range selector cable to the steering column bracket via the cowl through engine compartment. Secure with the retaining clip & connect to the column control lever, reinstall the left IP closeout panel. Insert range selector transaxle cable into the bracket and attach it on the terminal to the transaxle manual shift lever pin. Put the retainer into the transaxle range selector cable mechanism, and alter the range selector cable.
