Shift Control Cable

Service and repair of shift cable requires initiating the removal of throttle body air inlet duct first. Start by detaching the retaining clip from the automatic transaxle range selector cable with the flat-bladed tool followed by extracting the cable from the cable lever through large flat-bladed tool usage. Use pliers to flatten down the retainers before taking out the cable from the automatic transaxle range selector cable bracket. The service starts by removing the knee bolster while proceeding to detach the column control lever and steering column bracket cable alongside the retaining clip. Pull the cable entirely through the opening found in the cowl. The cable installation requires directing the automatic transaxle range selector cable properly through the engine compartment and feeding the piece through the cowl. The cable must be fitted to both the steering column bracket and the column control lever by using the retaining clip. Place the knee bolster back in position before installing the automatic transaxle range selector cable to the bracket along with the lever and retain it with the clip. Reposition the automatic transaxle range selector cable before reattaching the throttle body air inlet duct together with the cable adjustment.

The automatic transaxle range selector cable needs a flat-bladed tool to detach its retaining clip before cable replacement by removing the throttle body air inlet duct first. A large flat-bladed tool should be used first to free the cable from the cable lever before pliers lower the cable retainers to remove it. Begin cable removal by removing the cable first from the bracket of the automatic transaxle range selector and second from the left IP closeout panel. Finally remove the retaining clip from the cable. Push the cable through the cowl hole after separating it from the column control lever and steering column bracket. The installation process requires directing the automatic transaxle range selector cable properly through the engine compartment before inserting it through the cowl. The installation of the cable begins with attaching it to the steering column bracket while using the retaining clip to keep it in place until connecting it to the column control lever. You should put back the left IP closeout panel while connecting the automatic transaxle range selector cable to its bracket alongside the automatic transaxle range selector lever and locking it in place with another retaining clip. To finish the cable installation you need to adjust the cable before putting back the throttle body air inlet duct.

Set the park brake and chock the wheels.

Fully lift the retainer from the transaxle range selector cable mechanism.

Connect the range selector cable to the column control lever.
