How to Replace an Exhaust Pipe on 2004 Buick Park Avenue?

The initial step for replacing the Exhaust Manifold pipe begins by lifting and supporting the vehicle. The first step requires removing the four nuts which attach the Catalytic Converter to the Exhaust Manifold pipe. Push the exhaust system rearward past the location of converter studs which sit in front of the Exhaust Manifold pipe. Repure and discard the Catalytic Converter gasket while working to prevent its reuse. After removing the two right Exhaust Manifold pipe nuts from their mount you can separate the combination of the pipe and gasket which should be discarded. A new Exhaust Manifold pipe gasket needs installation on the right Exhaust Manifold studs followed by positioning the Exhaust Manifold pipe to the right Exhaust Manifold. Apply 40 nm (30 ft. Lbs.) torque when securing the nuts which join the Exhaust Manifold pipe to the right Exhaust Manifold. Next apply a new Catalytic Converter gasket onto the stud area before setting the Catalytic Converter toward its position at the Exhaust Manifold pipe. The four nuts should be tightly threaded to 25 nm (18 ft. Lbs.) for securing the Catalytic Converter to the Exhaust Manifold pipe. Finally, lower the vehicle.
