  • Q: How to replace the vacuum brake booster on 2004 Buick Rainier?
    A: In order to replace the vacuum Brake Booster, first engage the parking brake and take out the master cylinder. Disconnect the vacuum hose from the vacuum booster and the engine, then add the left closeout/insulator panel. Then remove the Pushrod retainer from the brake pedal pin as well as the stop lamp switch , finally taking out the Pushrod from the brake pedal pin. Unscrew the vacuum booster mounting nuts, remove the vacuum booster assembly with the gasket. For installation, first, install the gasket, also install the vacuum booster assembly (Follow Fastener Notice in Service Precautions). Attach the vacuum booster mounting nuts and tighten to 40 nm (30 ft. Lbs.). Move the stop lamp switch onto the Pushrod and attach it to the pin of a brake pedal. Screw on the push rod retainer to the brake pin pedal and until it snaps into position and install the left closeout/insulator panel again. Finally connect the vacuum hose to the vacuum booster and to the engine, and reinstall the master cylinder.
