2004 Buick Rainier Brake Calipers Parts and Q&A

  • Q: What Tools Are Needed for a Front Brake Calipers Overhaul on 2004 Buick Rainier?
A: For brake caliper front repair you need the j 8092 driver handle and j 43385 boot seal installer tools. First remove all brake fluid from the caliper then pad its internal space with clean cloth. Use care when dealing with compressed air and the Piston as putting fingers in front of it could lead to serious harm. Apply low air pressure when removing the Piston from the socket to protect the system. Rephrase: handle both pistons and boots with care when you pull them out from caliper bores. Carefully extract Piston seals using a tool type other than metal before removing the bleeder valve cap and valve from the caliper unit. Clean all parts including the bleeder valve using denatured alcohol then dry them with filtered air pressure. When the metal parts of the caliper or pistons show signs of wear like scraped grooves or corrosion, replace both components due to these defects. Place the crocus cloth on light caliper bore corrosion to smooth it out but replace the caliper if the corrosion cannot be taken away. Apply fresh brake fluid to new Piston seals plus caliper bores and pistons before installing the seals without twisting them. Apply the boot seals onto the pistons and position them into their respective caliper bores. Position the bleeder valve into the caliper before tightening its screws to 12 nm (110 inch lbs). Then place the bleeder valve cover on top. Install the caliper housing boots by inserting both the j 8092 driver handle and j 43385 boot seal installer at the same time.
