    Q:
How to replace the rear brake calipers on Chevrolet Trailblazer? Posted by Customer
    A:
To replace the rear brake caliper, you need to lift the vehicle off the ground and take off the tire and wheel assembly first. Then remove the rear brake hose bolt from the rear brake caliper and plug the open end of the brake hose to prevent excessive brake fluid from being lost and getting contaminated. Discard away the metal (copper) gaskets, remove them from the brake hose bolt. After that, remove the rear brake caliper mounting bolts, and pull the rear brake from the mounting bracket. In case of recycling the brake caliper guide pin, make it clean with denatured alcohol and dried with non-lubricated and filtered air. Apply the high temperature silicone brake lubricant on the guide pin, allowing it to slide, but not an the brake pad hardware. Mount the rear brake caliper assembly on the mounting bracket bolt and tighten the brake caliper mounting bolts with a torque of 31 Nm (23 ft. lbs.). Install new metal (copper) gaskets on brake hose bolt, plug out the plug from the brake hose end, insert the brake hose bolt into the rear brake caliper and tighten it to 44 Nm (33 ft. lbs.). Finally, bleed the hydraulic brake system, and replace tire and wheel assembly, and lower the vehicle.
