How to replace the rear brake calipers on 2004 Chevrolet SSR?

You must lift the car and take off the rear tire and wheel to start replacing the brake caliper. Seamlessly disconnect the brake hose bolt at the rear brake caliper then put a seal in the brake hose airway to stop brake fluid escaping and contamination. Take out the worn copper gaskets along with the brake hose bolt. Unfasten the rear brake caliper mounting bolts before taking out the caliper complete unit from its bracket. To prepare the guide pin for reinstallation you should clean it with denatured alcohol followed by blowing filtered non-lubricated air. Prime the guide pin with high temperature silicone brake lubricant but keep the substance away from brake pad hardware. Insert the rear brake caliper assembly onto its bracket then lock the guide pins at a torque of 31 Nm. Install new copper gaskets onto the brake hose bolt then put its end into the brake caliper before tightening it to 40 Nm (30 ft. lbs.). Complete hydraulic brake maintenance by bleeding the system then putting back the tire and wheel before lowering the vehicle.
