How to replace the front brake calipers on 2003 Chevrolet SSR?

Start by lifting the car and disconnecting both tire and wheel before replacing the front brake caliper. Place a plug inside the front brake caliper hose before you take out the bolt that retains the brake hose at the front brake caliper. This action stops brake fluid leaks. Discard your old metal/copper gaskets and put new copper gaskets in the right position. Unscrew the bolts holding the brake caliper guide pin and slide off the front brake caliper from its mounting bracket. Clean the guide pin with denatured alcohol before drying it with filtered and lubricant-free air. Put silicone brake lubricant on the brake caliper guide pin and do not apply it to brake pad hardware. Mount the front brake caliper on its bracket and fasten the guide pin bolts gently to 42 nm (31 ft. Lbs.). Put metal/copper gaskets on the front Brake Caliper Bolt and attach the front brake hose bolt and gaskets. Tighten the hose bolt to 40 nm (30 ft. Lbs.). Drain the hydraulic brake system fluid before you put back the tire and wheel combination while lowering the vehicle.
