How to overhaul the rear brake calipers on 2005 GMC Envoy?

Before working on the brake caliper you must empty its brake fluid then line the inside space with clean cloth. Keep your fingers safe from the Piston as you apply air pressure for the job. Just enough compressed air should push the Piston free without hurting it. Pull the Piston off the caliper opening before you extract the boot and seal materials without harming the housing bore. Unscrew the bleeder valve along with its cap and disassemble the pin components from the anchor bracket. Use a brush and denatured alcohol to clean all surfaces of the anchor bracket including the bleeder valve and caliper bore. Filter-supplied compressed air blows off any residue since you can dry these components afterward. Replace the entire Piston or caliper when caliper bore shows damage to the chrome plating or any other serious wear; otherwise use crocus cloth to fix minor corrosion before replacing the caliper. Tighten the bleeder valve to 12 nm (110 inch lbs.) after installing the new bleeder valve cap. Apply brake fluid to the new Piston seal alongside the caliper bore and Piston before adding it in position without distorting the seal groove. Press the boot into the housing bore gently before pushing the Piston down to install it at the bottom of the bore and then fixing the boot on top.
