2005 GMC Envoy Brake Disc Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the front brake disc on 2005 GMC Envoy?
A: Start by checking brake fluid amount in the reservoir and drain excess fluid if the level exceeds halfway between top and bottom limits. Lift up the vehicle and take out the tire-assembly wheel unit. Place the large j12345 c-clamp on the brake caliper housing and screw it down toward the outboard pad until the piston compresses enough for you to take out the caliper. Follow these steps by removing the bolts from the brake caliper mounting bracket and taking away both the brake caliper and mounting bracket in one piece. Clean the Brake Disc surface using Wheel Hub cleaning kit j 42450-a to stop brake pulsation before attaching the component. When you keep the old disc mark its location relative to the wheel stud before taking it off the hub assembly. Use the Wheel Hub cleaning kit (J 42450-A) to clean the front axle hub contact surface for the new Brake Disc installation and normalize the alignment marks before insertion. Position the brake caliper back into the steering knuckle and fasten it securely with the brake caliper bolt until it measures 133 ft. Lbs. Of torque. Snug the wheel and tire back into position then lower the vehicle. Top up brake fluid to normal levels and press the brake pedal gently yet firmly to let the brake pads settle. Lastly, smooth the new Brake Disc surface by running the discs at low speed.
