2006 GMC Envoy Brake Disc Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the front brake disc on 2006 GMC Envoy?
A: Check the brake fluid when inspecting the brake master cylinder reservoir. Pour out excess fluid until the brake fluid level reaches the midpoint. Lift the vehicle up and take out the tire and wheel unit. Drive a large c-clamp j 42450-a over the brake caliper housing toward the outboard Brake Pad until the piston compression lets you remove the caliper. Take out the two bolts securing the brake caliper mounting bracket then extract both brake caliper and mounting bracket as one part. Get rid of the disc holding clips. Clean off rust and bits with j 42450-a Wheel Hub cleaning kit to stop added Brake Disc twist and rhythmic shaking. Before removing the disc from the Wheel Hub mark where the disc connects to a wheel stud for future alignment. Before replacing the disc clean the contact surface on the front hub using components from the Wheel Hub cleaning kit j 42450-a. After installing the disc make sure groove points match up then place the disc on Wheel Hub and attach the brake caliper assembly to its Steering Knuckle. Reassemble the brake caliper bolt by 150 nm (110 ft. Lbs.) torque setting and put back the wheel and tire components before lowering the vehicle and completing the brake fluid. Press the brake pedal carefully while keeping pressure to let new brake pads contact the resurfaced or new discs to make them work properly.
